New York: Some intimate chatting has landed a high school student and his girlfriend in deep trouble, with all the wrong logic at work.
The teenagers were charged for child porn offences after they sent each other sexual photos of themselves, which, the police found in the boy's phone when the police were investigating another case.
Sending sexual images of minors is considered illegal in North Carolina, irrespective of who sends them and this loophole in law has landed the 16-year-old and his girlfriend in trouble. Simple possession of the images is an offence in itself and sending it to another calls for additional charges.
The duo face five counts of sexual exploitation for each of the five photos they reportedly sent each other.
A conviction could result to them being registered as sex offenders.
