Telangana working president of TDP Revant Reddy on Friday deplored the Speaker Madhusudanachary decision to recognise the TDP defectors as affiliate of the ruling TRS.
Revant said the Speaker decision was despite a case pending in the Supreme Court against the defectors under the Anti-Defection Act. He questioned the merger of the TDP group of MLAs in the TRS in the face of the Anti-Defection Act.
The TDP working president wondered whether this was Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao's brand of politics.
The TDP defectors group had on Thursday urged the Speaker to merge their group with the TRS. This was approved by the Speaker.
The Speaker based his decision on the letter by former TDP floor leader in the Assembly E. Dayakar Rao, who claimed they had insulated themselves from the Anti-Defection Act, because 12 of the 15 TDP MLAs had crossed over to the TRS.
