In the wake of Telangana government bringing eatables under the tax umbrella, even ordinary samosas will now cost more. Those who supply snacks to hotels and restaurants usually pay 14.5 per cent tax. But they pay only 5 per cent tax if their annual income is less than Rs. 1.5 crores. Snack bar owners are now complaining over the additional tax. Denizens are shocked at the imposition of tax on such an ubiquitous snack as somosa.
