Delhi recorded the season's coldest day on Sunday with the temperature dropping down to 2 degrees making the capital colder than Shimla which is at 3.8 degrees.
It was also one of the foggiest days of the season. A thick layer of fog enveloped the capital, playing spoilsport for weekend revelers. "With visibility touching near zero, it was almost impossible to drive," said a commuter. The fog also played havoc with the rail network delaying over 78 trains, while 20 were rescheduled.
"We planned to go to Agra but we couldn't drive even till the Expressway," said another commuter.
Visibility at all runaways of the Delhi Airport also dipped below 50 metres leading to partial shutdown of the airport for several hours. The airport issued a fog warning with many flights getting cancelled and delayed.
With mercury dipping to 2 degrees celsius, the season has been particularly harsh on the city's homeless. Patients like Snehlata who wait all night outside the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, are having a tough time.

The cold wave continues to intensify in North India. Six deaths have been reported from Bihar and 5 from Punjab and Haryana due to the extreme cold. Temperatures in Chandigarh dipped to a little over 2 degress celcius recording its coldest day of the season so far.
