Short of calling Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu a backstabber, Errabelli Dayakar Rao on Saturday tried to lessen the impact of being dubbed a defector.
Coming to the Assembly premises for participating in the House proceedings, Dayakar said he had not ditched the Telugu Desam Party founded by NT Rama Rao.
What was their crime in crossing over to the ruling TRS as compared to Chandrababu Naidu's act of bringing down NT Rama Rao from power and assuming power himself. What wrong have we done? he questioned newsmen in a tete-e-tete.
Dayakar said the dozen TDP MLAs did not defect as such. They simply got their TDP Legislature Party merge into the TRS. That was all. He avoided backstabbing charge altogether.
Dayakar claimed that he did not ring up any TRS leader that he would like to join their party. He simply merged the TDP Legislature Party in the TRS.
After a long time, one can see the smile back on Dayakar's face. As he himself said, Dayakar had felt a heavy burden on his shoulders when he was in the TDP after the split in the State. Now he feels relieved.
