If rumour mill is to be believed, IAS officer Smita Sabharwal will soon take charge as the Nalgonda district collector. Buzz is that KCR is contemplating to depute Smita as Nalgonda Collector considering the requests coming from the district on Industrialization. KCR had earlier asked all the district collectors to send the details over government lands for industrialization.

Smita, a 2001-batch cadre IAS, is the youngest and the first officer appointed into KCR's peshi soon after KCR sworn in as the Chief Minister. She is presently working as additional secretary in CM KCR's peshi and handling Irrigation, Panchayat Raj and Rural Development. She has experience of working as collector for Medak and Karimnagar districts in the past.

Smita is popular for her sympathy towards Telangana people and Telangana movement. She has hit the headlines during felicitation of parents of martyrs of Telangana movement on the eve of Telangana formation day. This is when she caught everyone's attention.
