At least ten people were killed in Uttar Pradesh’s Firozabad district when a speeding truck lost control and mowed down members of a marriage procession.
The accident occurred at Kotla road as the driver lost control of the truck and rammed into a pavement killing one, and then mowed down members of the procession. At least half a dozen people sustained serious injuries and were rushed to Sarojini Naidu Medical College in Agra, a police official told IANS.
The people killed were among those passing by, band players and members of the marriage procession.
Karua, Krishna and Vakeel, are the three who have been identified so far.
“Efforts are underway to identify others too,” an official said, adding that their first priority was transferring the injured to hospital.
