Techie stabbed to death

A 25-year-old software professional was stabbed to death near Swapnalok Complex in Secunderabad under Mahankali Police Station limits in the wee hours of Thursday.

Victim's body found near Swapnalok Complex

The deceased, Sanjay Junge, a resident of Parsigutta in Secunderabad, was an employee of Sutherland Global Services in Hitec City. Mahankali police stumbled upon the fact when Sanjay’s body was found near Swapnalok Complex in Secunderabad. “He was a resident of Parsigutta. After his shift ends at 2 am, a cab usually drops him at his house, but he was seen walking near Swapnalok Complex at around 4.30 am, which raised suspicion,” the cops said.

According to police, the incident occurred at about 4.30 am when Sanjay, who was walking by Swapnalok Complex reportedly on his way home after night shift, was attacked by unidentified assailants with sharp weapons. “Four members came in a white Maruti car, stopped the vehicle in front of the victim opposite the exit gate of Swapnalok Complex and stabbed him multiple times,” ACP (Mahankali) V Thirpathaiah said, adding that Sanjay died on the spot.

Manohar, a security guard at the complex, said that he saw four persons in a car had knocked down Sanjay from behind. “Three of them were seated inside while one person, brandishing a knife, got down from the car and stabbed Sanjay twice in the chest and then fled in the car towards Paradise. I alerted my fellow guards who in turn alerted the patrol car,” he said. “As per the family version, Sanjay left for the late night shift at around 3 pm on Wednesday and was supposed to return by 2 am on Thursday.

Normally, a cab drops him at his house at Parsigutta, but on Thursday morning he got down at Begumpet,” Inspector Satyanarayana said. Police said that they were investigating the case from all angles. The police, who recovered the victim’s cell phone and are in the process of acquiring the call data record, did not rule out love angle in the murder case. Police are verifying with the eyewitnesses and the nearby CCTV footage for details of the vehicle and the accused.

Though the police patrol team arrived soon, they did not succeed in chasing the accused. “They took a wrong turn from Paradise and fled towards Tank Bund in their car,” the ACP added. Clues team and dog squad were pressed into service and conducted the inquest. A case under Section 302 (Murder) of the IPC has been registered against the assailants and is being investigated into. The body was shifted to Gandhi Hospital mortuary for post-mortem examination.
