YSRCP chief and Leader of the Opposition in AP Assembly YS Jagan Mohan Reddy in AP Assembly on Saturday criticized the acts of the AP government particularly the Resettlement and Rehabilitation (R and R) Package to the people who were forced to leave Polavaram. Speaking during the Question Hour, YS Jagan said that the land acquisition has been taking place for more than 10 years yet the outsees have been not given any closure. Jagan suggested to undertake a joint inspection and asked the ministers and the higher officials to join him.
Stating the government should give adequate compensation to the Polavaram oustees, the YSRCP President even pointed out the people from Ramayyapet, Paidipaka and Chegondapalli villages were being pressurized for which he asked for interests of the poor be protected in the project areas.
Responding to YSRCP questions on the R&R package, Minister Devineni Uma Maheshwar Rao said that while the earlier government neglected the issue, TDP government implemented the Bill as soon as it came to power and added that nearly Rs. 109 crores was distributed to in East and West Godavari districts fishermen.
