Anantapur: About 44 IT companies have come forward to invest Rs 3,000 crore in IT industry in Andhra Pradesh, IT minister Palle Raghunath Reddy said on Sunday, adding that the IT industry would provide employment to over 50,000 youths in the state.
The minister told the media here that the government was taking necessary measures for industrial development. “Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu made serious efforts to attract investments from various countries during his recent tours abroad. Responding to the offers made by the CM, many IT industries agreed to step in,” he said.
Mr Raghunatha Reddy hoped that over a period of time (neary 3 years), as high as five lakh unemployed youths could get employment in the IT sector. The fibre-grid would help provide Internet services to more than 40,000 villages.
Earlier, the minister congratulated 10 students of his college who got placements in private companies.
The minister directed water supply officials of urban and rural areas to take necessary steps to avoid a drinking water crisis in the summer season. He reviewed the scene with officials at Puttaparthi and recalled that the CM had released Rs 13.60 crore to meet the water demand. More than 13 mandals were facing serious problem due to poor water levels. Only 9,000 hand pumps were functioning as against the total of 14,000 hand pumps, he observed
A high-power committee would be formed to clear problems in the existing drinking water pipeline projects like the Srirami Reddy PABR scheme, the Chitravathi drinking water scheme and the J.C. Nagireddy drinking water scheme.
