Court orders police to book Asaduddin Owaisi for Bharat Mata remarks

Hyderabad: A city court on Wednesday ordered the police to book a case against MIM chief and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi for his remarks on Bharat Mata.

Responding to a private petition filed by an advocate Sai Goud at Malkajgiri munsif magistrate court, the judge issued the orders to Neredmet police to book Owaisi under Section 153-A of IPC for making a statement that could potentially disturb the integrity of the country and fuel enmities among people.

A few days ago, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi had said that he would not say 'Bharat Mata ki Jai' even if a knife is put to his throat.

Maharashtra MLA Suspended for Endorsing Owaisi

Meanwhile, an MIM MLA in Maharashtra was suspended for endorsing his party chief's statement and refusing to chant Bharat Mata Ki Jai. There was uproar in the assembly after BJP's Ram Kadam asked him to say 'Bharat Mata ki Jai'. However, Pathan refused it. This outraged the leaders of other parties also who demanded his immediate suspension.

Minister of State for Legislative Affairs Ranit Patil moved a proposal for suspension of Pathan’s membership for the duration of the ongoing budget session which was approved by the House.

RSS seeks action against Owaisi over 'Bharat Mata' remarks

Jammu: Seeking action against AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi for refusing to chant 'Bharat Mata ki Jai', RSS today said those who do not consider India as their 'motherland' should leave the country. He (Owaisi) is making such unwarranted statements. If somebody does not consider our country as motherland, he is most welcome to go away from this country and go wherever he likes, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh's (RSS) Prant Sang Chalak, Jammu and Kashmir, Brig Suchet Singh said.

RSS's reaction comes in the wake of Owaisi's recent remarks that he won't chant 'Bharat Mata ki Jai' even if a knife was put on his throat. Singh said it was unfortunate that such people were elected to Parliament. Asked whether RSS wanted action against Owaisi, he said action must be taken and people are there to think about this. In fact, we can only suggest that anti-national activities by anti-national people must be identified and stern action taken against them, he added.
