As announced earlier Kapu's patriarch Mudragada Padmanabham launched his hunger strike . Mudragada along with his family members sits for fast unto death at his residence in Kirlampudi. Mudragada who is demanding that the Government should include Kapus in the BC category asked his followers not to troop into Kirlampudi. Before sitting to fast he spoke to media and said his life was dedicated to Kapu's uplift
Before undertaking fast Mudragada said, "I am requesting all my Kapu brothers not to throng to venue. As a mark of protest skip the lunch and make a sound by tapping on the food plates by staying in your villages. I don't want any protection and if I am arrested, I shall continue the fast in the prison" he said.
Meanwhile tension prevails in Kirlampudi and adjoining villages due to the large deployment of security forces, including the Rapid Action Force commandos. Bunch of water cannons and other anti-riot equipment have been kept ready in Kirlampudi. The other day AP CM Chandrababu Naidu sent a couple of MLAs to convince Mudragada but the efforts did not turn fruitful.
