After keeping silent for a few weeks, Kapu strongman and former minister Mudragada Padmanabham is back in action with his demand for inclusion of Kapus into the Backward Classes list.
With all the political parties deserting him for his meek surrender to Telugu Desam Party president and Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu after the high-voltage Kapu agitation in January, Mudragada has now started attacking the government for hoodwinking the Kapu community with empty promises.
“Naidu has cheated me by making false promises. He has not implemented even a single promise. He said he would immediately distribute Rs 500 crore loans to Kapus, but washed off his hands by distributing only Rs 100 crore among the yellow-shirts masquerading as Kapus.
Cases were filed against the Kapu leaders who took part in my rally. None of my suggestions was considered in the constitution of Kapu commission. And there is no talk of allocating Rs 1,000 crore for Kapus in the budget. I now feel ashamed for withdrawing the agitation by believing Naidu’s promises,” he said.
Mudragada declared that he would restart the agitation in three or four days to press for his demands. But one doubts whether there would be any takers for his agitation, as he proved a dud by succumbing to Naidu’s pressures in withdrawing the recent agitation.
