Following the footsteps of his communist father Paritala Sriramulu who started the practice of mass lunches, slain TDP leader Paritala Ravi had initiated the concept of mass marriages for poor and successfully conducted twice in Anantapur. The program was huge hit then and received all round applause. However, many thought it'd be affected after he was brutally killed by his political opponents.
But proving the detractors wrong, Ravi's wife and Minister of Civil Supplies and Raptadu MLA Paritala Sunitha had revived the tradition of mass marriages. Now, Sunitha is making grand preparations for one such event to be held on come April 21st. Over 250 couples are going to tie the knot in Paritala Ravi's native village Venkatapuram of Anantapur district. All arrangements are being made by Paritala Memorial Trust.
Dharmavaram Silk Sarees and mango-shaped Mangalsutras for brides have been ordered. Sunitha and son Sriram this time want to make it big by following all wedding rituals and planning to have large-spread meals to the guests along with grooms and brides. AP CM Chandrababu Naidu, cabinet ministers and other senior leaders of the TDP are expected to attend the grand gala event.
The people of Penugonda and Raptadu are expressing their happiness saying that Sunitha is reminiscing them of good-old days of Paritala Ravi.
