Survey for Amaravati railway line soon

Survey for Amaravati railway line soon

Amaravati: Railway line to the State capital – Amaravati, is going to be a reality as the South Central Railway (SCR) is looking to engage a private agency to conduct the survey. The said agency will survey and map 67-km long railway line from Vijayawada-Amaravati-Guntur, for which the Union Ministry of Railways sanctioned permission in the recent Railway Budget.

The survey will start after the Master Plan is finalised. Speaking to The Hans India, Guntur Railway Division Operations Manager ALN Reddy said that two bridges have to be constructed across River Krishna to lay the railway line. “The new railway station to be constructed in the State capital Amaravati should reduce passengers rush in Vijayawada, Guntur stations, as there is no space to increase number of platforms in the two cities.”

Detailing about the operations of the new line, “Trains from Hyderabad via Nadikudi will be diverted to Amaravati from Sattenapalli to reduce passengers rush in Guntur railway station.  Similarly, the trains from Narasaraopet and Rayalaseema will reach Amaravati railway station. Same will be the case with trains from Chennai, Bangalore,” he added.

The new railway station in the State capital is likely be constructed near the proposed sites for Assembly, Secretariat and government buildings. “There is need to introduce circular trains between Amaravati-Guntur-Vijayawada for the convenience of the passengers. We have submitted the proposals to the CRDA,” Reddy added.
